Ryan Karker's Men's Soccer Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

Since I was a young kid, my parents tried hard to make me a well-rounded person placing me in multiple sports and activities. This has given me an opportunity to grow as a person on many fronts. As I've grown up, I've dwindled down the amount of sports I play in high school to soccer and track. I have played Travel soccer for the last 9 years. I have been captain of my travel team for 9 years. In this time I've learned how to bring camaraderie to a team, lead on and off the field and how to be supportive to my teammates. I understand the importance of touch, control, vision and decision making in the game of soccer. I have a deep desire of studying the game that continually helps me grow as a player. Along with playing soccer I also enjoy golfing, and being in the outdoors when time allows. I ref soccer during the summer, have a part time job at Wegman's  and also mow lawns for my neighbors..  I think this diversity in activities on top of my studies prepares me extremely well by teaching how to use my time wisely before the challenge of balancing hours of homework and practice each night in college.  I believe that learning is important in anything you do on or off the field.  My first and foremost collegiate goal is to receive a great education in the field of Sports Management. I am  currently taking AP classes in Math, Science and Social Studies.  Soccer has been my number one passion so I've always known that I would play at a collegiate level.  Finding the right college that offers an excellent scholastic program and playing at a competitive level of soccer is my focus for the next stage of my life.
