Kris was known as one of the best basketball players in the 757 during her academic years! She graduated from Oscar Smith High School in 2001. She attended University of Hartford, in Hartford Connecticut and Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Kris first fell in love with basketball at the age of 5 years old. She initially played in the recreational basketball league where she showed exemplary talent as a player. Her continued devotion and love for the sport would later lead Kris to play for the AAU Boo Williams Basketball team where she was selected to join the U.S. International Basketball Team. Kris, along with her teammates, was afforded a lifetime opportunity to compete in Belgium where her team won the Championship! Kris and her “Red Tide” AAU teammates also played in the AAU National Championship in New Orleans. In addition to basketball Kris also played golf and tennis. Kris was a well-rounded and a competitive player who strived to compete at the highest level of her athletic abilities. Her family describes her as a hardworking, competitive young lady, who never gave up!

As many knew, Kris was involved in a serious car accident in 2003 that almost ended her life. Although doctors were skeptical about her survival, Kris proved to them that she was not ready to give up. She fought hard to beat the odds against her and made a strong recovery. Kris worked hard physically and mentally to push through one of the hardest challenges that she had to overcome. Although we miss her dearly, along with her beautiful smile, laughter, and jovial personality, we know that she is at rest. Kris battled a lengthy illness for the last couple of years which ultimately took her from us. We are comforted in knowing that she longer has to endure the medical challenges that resulted from her illness. Also, knowing that she is now at peace, gives us the comfort that we will need as we grieve for our dear Kristina.

We would like to thank all our Family and Friends for your love, support and concern during this difficult time. Please continue to keep the Sparrow Family in your thoughts and prayers.
