Rosh Hashanah is also called the Jewish New Year. In 2024, it will start on September 25, 2024, and end on September 27, 2024. It begins a ten-day period of penitence culminating in Yom Kippur and starting the cycle of autumnal religious festivals running through Sukkot and ending in Shemini Atzeret in Israel and in Simchat Torah.

The two-day observance and celebration which starts on the first day of Tishrei. It marks the beginning of the civil year and the traditional anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve who were the first man and woman according to the Hebrew Bible as humanity's role in God's world. The symbolic food of this new year is pomegranates, wine, apples, shofar, and honey.
