(CNN) -- Roger Federer will launch his bid for a sixth Wimbledon title by facing Slovakia's Dominik Hrbaty, who has won both of his previous encounters with the world number one.
Federer will be seeking a 60th successive victory on grass when he plays his first round match.
Those matches were on clay and Federer will go into next week's meeting looking for a 60th consecutive win on grass.
Second seed Rafael Nadal will open up against German Andreas Beck.
The Spaniard, fresh from his first grass-court title at Queens Club, could face a quarterfinal against Frenchman Richard Gasquet, a semifinalist at Wimbledon last year.
If the seedings work out Nadal will then come up against Nikolay Davydenko in the semis, but the Russian could meet Andy Roddick, twice a Wimbledon runner-up, in the last eight.
Federer's likely opponent in the last four is Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic, who could tackle Marat Safin and David Nalbandian en route to the semifinals.
British number one Andy Murray, the 12th seed, plays France's Fabrice Santoro in round one.
In the womens' singles, Ana Ivanovic, the French Open champion and world number one, has a first round match against Paraguay's Rossana de los Rios.
She is scheduled to tackle Anna Chakvetadze in the quarterfinals and Serena Williams in the semis. Williams could face another former winner, Amelie Mauresmo in the third round, with a quarterfinal against fourth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova beckoning.
Defending champion Venus Williams, bidding for a fifth title at the All England Club, begins with a match against British wild card Naomi Cavaday.
Serbian second seed Jelena Jankovic and Russian Maria Sharapova are in the holder's half of the draw.
