TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Dubai-based flag carrier Emirates will land its super jumbo jet Airbus A380-800 on the first A380-operated route to Indonesia at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Indonesian state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) President Director, Faik Fahmi, ensured that the airport is ready to welcome the world's largest commercial aircraft serving the Dubai-Denpasar-Dubai route.

“We are very pleased that Emirates choose to land the world's largest commercial aircraft, Airbus A380-800, for the first time at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. This is a historic record for Angkasa Pura I and Indonesia,” Faik said in a written statement, Monday, May 29, 2023.

The Airbus A380-800 aircraft is the largest commercial passenger aircraft currently operating both in terms of passenger capacity and aircraft dimensions.

Emirates planned to operate two types of A380 double-deckers in Indonesia, namely the two classes type (business and economy) and three classes type (first class, business, and economy).

Faik further explained that I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has met the specifications to serve Airbus A380-800 flights following the assessment by the Transportation Ministry along with AP I and the Emirates team.

Faik hoped that the arrival of the Emirates Airbus A380-800 can bring positive multiplier effects, “on tourism and economic growth in Bali and Indonesia,” he concluded.
