On October 8, 2023, our beloved Craig Dalton Boone, fondly called “Bread,” bid farewell to this world in Hampton, Virginia. Born on July 9, 1971, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Craig’s enduring legacy will always reside in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Craig was a pillar of his community, dedicating over three decades of his life to his craft as a barber. He worked magic, not just with clippers and scissors, but in the way he touched the lives of his patrons, leaving them not just looking their best, but feeling their best too. His commitment to his community extended beyond his barbershop; as a VDOT service patroller, he ensured the safety of others on the roads he traveled. Additionally, his entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he managed and led Riitazblock Mngmt, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry.
A graduate of Manor High School, Craig’s enthusiasm for life was infectious. He faced challenges with unwavering determination and approached every obstacle with a smile, leaving a lasting impression on all who met him.
Craig is survived by his loving wife, Ebony Boone, and his children, Maranda Phillips, Elizabeth Boone, Cameron Elder, and stepchildren Ty’Quan Gaskins, and Enrique Williams. He was the cherished son of Bruce Boone Sr. and stepson of Trina Boone, and the dear brother of Rosetta Boone, Shana Alexander, Bruce Moore, Keith Boone, Marcus Blunt, Marqui Blunt, Myesha Blunt, and Tanesha Blunt. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Sky Marshall, Hazel Bettis, and Cameron Elder Jr.
In addition to his immediate family, Craig leaves behind a vast, loving network of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and associates, all of whom were touched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Boone, and his brothers, Bruce Boone Jr., Sherrod Smith, Bruce Smith, and Damon Boone. While Craig may no longer be with us physically, his spirit lives on in the memories of those he leaves behind.
A celebration of Craig’s life will be held on October 21, 2023, at 11 AM at Metropolitan Funeral Service, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. Bishop Arthlesh Lynn will preside over the ceremony, guiding everyone in paying tribute to the remarkable man Craig was. In accordance with his wishes, Craig’s ashes will be laid to rest in the comforting embrace of the ocean, a place he loved dearly and where his spirit can forever dance with the waves.
Craig’s departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire us all. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived and the profound impact he had on the lives of everyone he encountered.
May his soul find eternal peace, and may we find solace in the beautiful memories we shared with him. Craig Dalton Boone will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
