MADRID, Spain -- Serbia striker Nikola Zigic has joined Racing Santander on a four-year deal from Red Star Belgrade, the Primera Liga club said on Wednesday.
Racing said on their Web site that the towering 25-year-old international would join the club next week, after Serbia's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Poland.
Zigic, who is 2.02 meters tall, scored 45 goals in 76 appearances for Red Star.
He won league and cup doubles with the club in 2004 and 2006 and was voted the Serbian league player of the year in 2003 and 2005.
Zigic played for Serbia & Montenegro at the World Cup and has scored four goals in 13 internationals.
Serbia, coached by former Spain boss Javier Clemente, now play as an independent team, while Montenegro have yet to gain international soccer recognition.
Serbian champions Red Star have also sold international midfielder Nenad Kovacevic to Lens.
"We are happy with the terms. These two lads earned it with their attitude and the fact that they are sought by western clubs speaks for their quality," club president Dragan Stojkovic told Red Star's Web site.
"We had a lot offers for Kovacevic during the winter break and we turned them down along with those for Zigic. Now we have to address the club's financial situation," Stojkovic added.
Kovacevic has signed a four-year contract at French club Lens, joining former Red Star team mate Milan Bisevac.
Brazilian striker Alecsandro has joined Sporting Lisbon after the Portuguese Premier League club agreed a one-year loan deal with Cruzeiro on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old replaces compatriot Deivid who has signed a three-year-contract with Fenerbahce.
The Turkish club will pay Sporting a transfer fee of 6 million euros ($7.70 million) for Deivid, media reported.
Alecsandro was set to join Primera Liga side Real Betis last week before the Spanish side pulled out of the deal.
Poland international winger Kamil Kosowski has signed a one-year loan deal with Serie A side Chievo, his Polish club Wisla Krakow said on Wednesday.
Kosowski has scored four goals and made 46 appearances for Poland including an appearance as a substitute against Ecuador in the World Cup finals this summer, but he has struggled for first-team football while on loan at both Kaiserslautern and Southampton during the last three seasons.
"Wisla is loaning Kosowski to Chievo Verona," Wisla deputy chairman Jerzy Jurczynski told Reuters. "The agreement has a clause allowing them to buy him after a year."
Jurczynski declined to give any details on the value of the deal, but local media in Krakow reported Chievo are paying around 500,000 euros for the one-year loan.
Midfielder Kizito Musampa has signed a three-year deal with Turkish team Trabzonspor from Atletico Madrid, the Primera Liga side said on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old, who had played on loan at Manchester City for a season and a half, began his career at Ajax and joined Atletico from Malaga in 2003.
A left-side midfielder, Musampa was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has Dutch citizenship.
