Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Robert "Christian" Tullius. I am 5 foot 10 inches tall and 135 pounds, and I swim for spruce creek high school and Daytona Beach Swimming in Daytona Beach, Florida. I swim under coach Steve Lochte (father of Ryan) and I recently made it to the 3A State Championship Meet on the 200 medley relay swimming the backstroke leg. Our relay came within .7 seconds of beating the school record held by Ryan Lochte (among others). In my backstroke leg I swam a personal best of 26.2 & came close to my goal of 25.9. I was fortunate enough to be elected team captain for my senior year by way of a poll of my peers and teammates and though I found the task hard, it was well worth it and I found my place as a leader on my team. Though I have only been swimming for around 4 years competitively I view this as more of an advantage than a disadvantage due to the fact that this is very similar to the way my older brother, Rex, started his career out and now he is a short course national champion and 4th place medalist at the 2008 olympic trials. I really am open to any and all schools, I have a very open mind and I have decided not to limit myself to a select few "favorite schools". I haven't gotten down to one specific major yet, I'm very indecisive. However I love to make people happy as well as cooking, so I do believe that Hospitality/Management might be a good fit for me. I believe I have large amount of potential in the sport of swimming, it's what I love to do. Every day I get to the pool and no matter how I'm feeling that day I know that at the end of a hard workout I will without a doubt feel 100% better. I have big goals, but I believe that is necessary in order to fulfill your maximum potential. My goals aren't unrealistic, but they will require copious amounts of dedication, perseverence, and unrelenting ambition, all of which I know I possess. Thank you for your time.
Christian Tullius
