Carole Celestine Brown was born to the late Dorothy Mae Cassell on April 14, 1962, in Brunswick County, Virginia. After the death of her mother, she was lovingly raised by her great-grandparents, Gilbert L. and Louise C. Stith. She was also supported and loved by her grandmother and grandfather, Rayfield Walker, Sr. and Ida Elizabeth Walker. Carole accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Virginia. She attended Sunday school classes and participated in the church’s youth activities. Carole was educated in the Brunswick County Public School system, where she was on the cheering team and enjoyed swimming with friends at the Mayfield Community Swimming Pool. She also enjoyed listening to music and dancing at Mel Jo’s Lounge.
Carole later moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where she met and married her husband Antonio Ulysses Brown. From that union, Chquita Renee was born. As an adult, Carole rededicated her life to Christ in 2017 and was baptized at Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, Virginia. Her desire to grow deeper in the knowledge of the Lord was very evident. Carole was introduced to a 5:00a.m Bible Study ministry by her Aunt, and the 4:30a.m alarm on her telephone is still ringing. She was so excited about her new walk with Christ that she excitedly shared with everyone all that she was learning in Bible Study. Her favorite scripture, Psalm 23, was dear to her heart, and the Lord’s Prayer stayed on her lips. Carole remained a faithful, dedicated Christian woman, setting a fine example for her 3 beloved grandchildren.
Carole joins her husband, Antonio Brown; her mother Dorothy Cassell; and her grandmother, Ida Elizabeth Walker in Heaven. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Chquita Renee Brockett, Le’Timothy Darnell Cassell; her grandchildren: Tatianna Rynae Brown, Le’Corey Antonio Brown and Brianna Renae Gwynne Brockett; her aunt Rosa Ann Martin; Uncle Clinton Walker, Cousin Aleesha Renee Walker; best friend Joyce Benjamin; her 5:00a.m bible study class, her religious family at Norfolk’s Calvary Revival Church and a host of other family, friends, and neighbors.
