Aeolian abrasion on Mars: regolith reactivity and the temperature dependence of mineral susceptibility to abrasion (ABRADE)
ABRADE conducts experiments quantifying the products of rock-water reactions that may proceed as a consequence of aeolian abrasion on Mars and has also investigated the resistance to abrasion of Mars relevant minerals.
Data will:
- Assess the relationship between H2 and H2O2 generation through rock-water reactions using Mars relevant minerals.
- Investigate the resistance to abrasion of minerals known to be present on Mars.
- Evaluate the potential of crushed silicates to generate perchlorate.
It targets the high-level ExoMars science aim ‘Search for signs of past and present life on Mars’.
Feel free to investigate ABRADE's science for yourself, meet our team and keep updated with our news and events.
