Following AEW's polarizing decision to air the All In backstage "brawl" between CM Punk and Jack Perry, it seemed as if it was only inevitable before the latter made his way back to AEW.
The self-proclaimed "Scapegoat" has spent the last two months finding what works about his heel persona and what doesn't, making him more of a complete package in the process for when he was ready to return to television.
Helping The Young Bucks clinch the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Dynasty all but confirms he'll be aligned with The Elite going forward, if not joining the group all together. A spot in AEW's top heel faction puts him in a prime position to build off the buzz he's generated so far and continue working his way back up the card.
A feud with FTR, who were denied the tag titles by Perry on Sunday night, would be the likely next step, but finding him a partner he can share the spotlight with could be a tall task.
Either way, AEW has the opportunity to ride this wave to wherever it's bound to take them, or risk ruining it by having Perry resort to the same shtick he had previously.
Perry won't be world champion in the immediate future, but getting him back in the mix with his newfound heat from the crowd should make for a fun run in the months ahead.
