Jeff Jacobson ordered a Cameo video from Smokey Robinson as a Hanukkah for his mother.
It was reported that Jeff Jacobson was a talent agency owner in Vancouver, Canada.
He ordered a video from Smokey, but the video he received from him took a “strange twist.”
For those who have not come across Cameo, it is a service that allows an individual to order personalized video greetings from their desired celebrities.
It was confirmed that Smokey charges $350 for recording special shoutouts on the site.
Jeff shared a post on his Twitter account where he wrote, “My mom grew up on the same street as Smokey Robinson in Detroit. So for Chanukah, I wanted to reunite them via @Cameo.”

He added, “But the video takes a strange twist.“
In the video, Smokey was thrilled to greet an old neighbor. It was confirmed that he is 80 years old.
He began his video by saying, “Hey, Margo! How you doing? Surprise, surprise.” He further said, “This is Smokey Robinson. I know you didn’t expect to hear from me, but I was contacted by your sons.”
He added, “They told me you used to live in Detroit across the street from me, and gosh that’s beautiful. How you doing again? Nice talking to you again, I guess.”
Smokey was noticeably excited while having a chat with the camera.
The video is reported to be 43 seconds long. In the video, Robinson was always seen smiling and said this was a gift for Margo.
Margo is a teacher who works in a kindergarten school in Vancouver.
In the proceeding seconds of the video, a surprising turn takes place when Smokey fulfilled the request and wishes for Margo.
He wished Margo and said, “Happy Chanukah.”
Chanukah is a noun, and it is pronounced as Hanukkah. It is a Jewish holiday festival starting from the 25th day of Kislev (in December)and lasts for eight consecutive days.
Smokey Robinson didn’t make any reply to the initial request because he wasn’t familiar with the word “Chanukah,” but later, he found out that Chanukah is pronounced as “Hanukkah“.
Jeff Jacobson shared the Hanukka wishing video on his Twitter account.
When it was checked on his account, as of Monday afternoon, it was seen that the video had gained more than 772,000 views.
According to sources, Jeff sent an email in which he wrote, “My reaction was pure joy that Smokey even fulfilled the request. I mean, it’s Smokey Robinson! He has been a mainstay in my household since birth, and he’s a true icon.”
Jeff discussed his mother’s reaction after she saw the video. He said his mother, Margo, was “overjoyed” after seeing that the video gained several views on the internet.
Jeff said, “It has made this strange, more distanced, and virtual Chanukah that much more special. Haven’t heard anything from Smokey and don’t expect to. He has done more than enough! He can pronounce the name of this holiday any way he pleases.”
