Why is Mark Cuban leaving Shark Tank?
Mark Cuban is leaving Shark Tank so that he can spend more time with his family. He “just wants to have a couple summers with my teens before they go off on their own,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
He expects to leave in 2025 after the next season is over. Mark has been on the panel for almost 15 years but the billionaire owner of the Mavericks revealed the decision in an All the Smoke podcast episode.
Admitting it was time for him to move on, Mark later told The Hollywood Reporter that it’s “nothing to do with the show” which he “loves” being on” for “how it motivates entrepreneurs around the world.”
Mark Cuban’s Shark Tank salary
Mark takes home a salary of at least $30K per episode of Shark Tank. He was set to earn $30,000 per episode for Season 5, $31,200 for Season 6, and $32,488 for Season 7.
In 2014, Business Insider reported on leaked emails from the hacking of Sony that revealed information about one of the Shark’s salaries. Messages also showed Mark was reportedly going through contract negotiations for the show.
That puts Mark’s estimated earnings from appearing on the show at a total of $870,000 for season 5, $904,800 for season 6 and $942,152 for season 7.

Fan discussions for who will replace Mark Cuban as he leaves Shark Tank are already underway. However, producers have until 2025 to find a replacement – and they are tough boots to fill!
Candace Nelson, Michael Rubin and Jason Blum have appeared as guest sharks and therefore could potentially become replacements. However, nothing has been finalised as of yet.
Mark has invested $29 million in at least 85 companies since joining the beloved show. However, a source told Yahoo that Cuban’s exit is not official, noting that “he has said this before.”
