“Scarlet Cross” by Black Veil Brides

by · Published · Updated

Within the lyrics, the “scarlet cross” serves as a symbol of the singer’s suffering and negative perception of the outside world. But the title is also the name of a group of fictional characters which are part of the Black Veil Brides’ The Phantom Tomorrow storyline. So even though we can ascertain that the vocalist is pessimistic in terms of the state of world and is also quite vociferous in getting this point across, it may not be until the album itself is released that we fully understand who the Scarlett Cross are and what exactly they represent.

Patrick Fogarty, a known associate of the Black Veil Brides, directed the music video to this song, with notable input from band member Andy Biersack.

Another member of the Black Veil Brides, Jake Pitts, produced Scarlett Cross. And the song was written by a solo musician named Andy Black.

This track was released on 13 November 2020.  It is the lead single from The Phantom Tomorrow, a concept album the Black Veil Brides are coming out with which has sort of a comic-book motif. In fact the band are also in the process of putting a graphic novel based on The Phantom Tomorrow.
