Ronnie Slade was born on November 3, 1985 in Norfolk, Virginia to his late mother, Joanne Slade and father, Ronald Ward. God dispatched his angels to ascend Ronnie back into his arms at 9:34am on Monday, December 7th, 2020. Just as he dealt with all experiences in life, he went through his sickness with strength, perseverance, and grace. He overcame many obstacles and giving up was not an option. He was a fighter which he did mightily until the end of his earthly journey.
Ronnie’s giant personality while in school deemed him as class clown. He was an athlete throughout his youth and played basketball for Maury High School. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and ChicagoBulls fan. Ronnie loved to cook and his favorite dish was Chicken Madiera. He didn’t allow his illness to blindness stop him from being a loving and amazing son, husband, father and brother. He chose to love and protect his family until his ultimate departure. Ronnie was known for being outspoken, very blunt and meant what he said when he said it.
He was kind-hearted, loving and a caring person until you pissed him off; where ever he went he was quick to gain friendship, respect, and understanding of those he met. He loved spending time with his family, dancing, and competing against his best friend and cousin Donnell whom he loved like a brother. He also loved to sing He Still Loves Me by the Fighting Temptations, rap Lose My Mind by Jezzy, and slow dance with his wife to Must Be Nice and One Wish.
He cherished and married his high school sweetheart Tamika Alexander Slade on August 24, 2007. Ronnie didn’t play when it came to protecting his wife, often times he was overprotective but that’s how much he loved her. Together they shared countless memories, long laughs and endless conversations. He was often saved from trouble with his wife by his sister Jasmine Andrews and cousin Passion Flowers. He was a devoted father to their daughter, Passion Allen whom he shared his heart, she was his pride and joy. He was a special person that enjoyed life and marched to the beat of his own drum. Ronnie Slade will join other heavenly angels his mother Joanne Slade, grandfather James E. Slade, grandmothers’ Mildred Slade & Betty Lou Ward, niece Sema’j Hill and nephew Kaison Mitchell. He will be forever missed, and his legacy of love and family will continue to reign in the hearts of his wife, daughter, and father. Also, three god-daughters Renee Wilkerson, Reya Wilkerson,Maya Jackson and one godson Trevon Wilkerson. One brother Keith Alexander and five sisters Latoya Slade, Donita Williams, Jamie Andrews, Shantel Andrews, and Jasmine Andrews.Parents in love Dorothea and Keith Andrews. Grandparents in love Ednaand Preston Jones. Best friend and cousin Donnell Jackson. Nine nieces Ayesha (Pearl), Camry, Diamond, Sarayah, Dnasia, Synne’, Jamaiya,Cassidy, and Kennedy. Nine nephews Eric (Dookie), Donte’, Ja’Khari, Ja’Kobe, Kyrie, Khalil, J’hmeir, Jaiden, and Camruan.
His heart reached far too many to name but his name will definitely live on for many years to come through his family and friends.
