Rodney Hendricks's Wrestling Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

Recently I have been contemplating my future a lot and have realized that with how much sports have impacted my young life, I would be losing a big part of my life without sports. When I was in the 6th grade I began walking over to the high school from the middle school to practice along side the high schoolers, I did this all throughout middle school. I always wanted to wrestle in college but never actually thought about pursuing it. So when I received information from colleges saying that they are interested in me preforming there has sparked a fire for me in realizing that I have the potential to compete and succeed in collegiate sports. As a high school athlete I have competed in many different levels of competition. So experience in different settings is one notch under my belt that I have. I am also extremely competitive, I have a drive that just pushes me to want to win at everything; on the mat, in the classroom, everywhere. Along with being competitive comes confidence, I try to keep my confidence at a somewhat reasonable level so it does not turn into cockiness. I'm a good leader and a strong teammate. Strong teammate in the sense that I push my teammates and strive to be the teammate and friend that everyone wants to have. The teammates I have now enjoy my ability to get excited for just about any situation. I think this makes me different from other recruits in that, although I love my own personal success, I enjoy most of all when a drill partner or a teammate or a team does well because of my contributions. Along with participating in the sports I work to be my best in the classroom as well. I believe this is what will make lessons I learn in sports valuable.
