Riyad Mahrez (Arabic: رياض محرز ), born February 21, 1991 in Sarcelles (France), is an Algerian international footballer . He currently plays as a midfielder and right winger at Manchester City. He is captain of the Algerian football team.
He started football in the club of his city at 13 years old. Nothing then predestined Riyad Mahrez to become one of the best football players in the world.
The sporting director of the Sarcelles club, Mohamed Coulibaly, said that while the club’s most talented went to the top French professional clubs, he struggled to shine at Sarcelles but still believed in himself.At 18, after having tried out in Spain, Romania and Scotland, Riyad Mahrez signed in Quimper in the fourth division where he earns 750 euros per month.
A year later, he left Brittany to join Le Havre in the second division, always keeping in him the confidence that he will succeed and go to the top level.
At 22, Riyad Mahrez signed for Leicester in the English second division. A year and a half after his arrival, the Leicester club won the English Championship.
At the level of Africa and especially in Algeria his notoriety is incredible.
At 27 he signed for Manchester City with whom he won his second English league title in 2019.
