During the extensive review process, the police identified a series of events that unfolded on the day of the incident.

They discovered a suspect entering the building at a specific time and later exiting through a different exit.

The individual’s behavior caught their attention, as it seemed suspicious and unrelated to the normal activities within the building.

Where is Richard Buchli now?

In what became a heavily contested legal battle, Richard Buchli was recently convicted of first-degree murder in 2022 and was originally sentenced to life without parole.

However, a judge overturned his previous conviction in 2006 after determining that the prosecution failed to provide the defense with complete CCTV evidence.

This led to prosecutors trying to take Buchli to court a second time in 2008, only to encounter further issues regarding the disclosure of evidence.

Ultimately, in 2010, a judge prohibited the use of old evidence against Buchli in future trials, as it appeared that the prosecution would not be able to support its case sufficiently.

The case of Richard Buchli stands as both a turning point in the judicial investigation of murder cases as well as a reminder of the importance of due process in the legal system.

Despite erroneously being accused of murder and spending time behind bars, he was able to reclaim his credentials in 2014 thanks to a ruling by the Missouri Supreme Court.

Although Buchli has seemingly moved on with his life surrounded by loved ones, the family of Richard Armitage still struggles with the loss and the notion that true justice was not served.

Buchli continues to practice law today, and while his reputation may have taken a hit, he remains a free man and a respected member of the legal community.
