The makers of their Netflix show captured Prince Harry’s emotional reaction to a text message from Prince William in footage that has gone viral on TikTok.
The couple, estranged from their family, was already in an emotional state when Queen Elizabeth II issued a statement in reaction to their interview with Oprah Winfrey in which she famously said, “recollection may vary.”
Prince William’s viral message and the reaction it received from the couple was shown on episode 6 of their Netflix show.
The couple was sitting together in what appears to be the office of their Montecito mansion while the duchess had their mutual friend Tyler Perry on speaker phone.
The prince then turned his phone screen towards Meghan to show her the message he had received from Prince William. Unfortunately, the message was not visible to the cameras, and the content of the message remains a secret to date.
“What am I looking at? Wow,” Meghan said. She then turned back to her call and told Perry: “H just got a text from his brother.”
Without revealing the content of the text message, Prince Harry said, “I wish I knew what to do.”
When Meghan saw her husband in such distress, she tried to be as supportive as possible and asked him to go out in the fresh air, take a breather, and then decide what to do.
Meghan then gives Harry a long hug as the pair take a moment to process the content of the text message.
Part of the episode that only showed Harry’s and Meghan’s reaction to Prince Willaim’s text message was edited and made viral on TikTok.
The viral footage has garnered close to 1 million views and 23.9k likes. The video appears with the caption: “Meghan Markle giving H a big hug after he received a harsh text from his brother Prince William shows her love for her man.”
Meghan read the late Queen’s statement on the show: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.”
The Queen also said the issues raised, particularly race-related, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members.
Meanwhile, when William was asked to comment on the infamous interview during a royal visit that week, he said: “We are very much not a racist family.”
The Netflix show does not indicate how Harry and Meghan felt about the Queen’s statement, and it is not known if they felt reassured and comforted or whether they felt it implicitly disputed their account of the events.
