TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina will substitute its fuel product dubbed Pertalite with Pertamax Green 92 fuel beginning in 2024. Pertamax Green 92 is a mixture of Pertalite and 7% ethanol. The substitution is part of Pertamina's commitment to develop bioenergy to reach net zero emissions by 2060.
"In 2024, there are three products, namely Pertamax Green 92, Pertamax Green 95, and Pertamax Turbo," said the President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, in a hearing with Commission VII of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Meanwhile, Pertamax Green 95 fuel is a mixture of Pertamax Ron 92 with ethanol. "So among Pertamina's products are green gasoline and green energy low carbon," she said.
The substitution of Pertalite is part of the Blue Sky (Langit Biru) program by Pertamina as the continuation of the previous phase.
"We will proceed with Phase 2 of the Blue Sky Program. [Previous phase] was upgrading the subsidized gasoline from RON 80 to RON 90," she said.
According to Nicke, the policy is in line with the mandate from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to ensure the value of octane fuel is at least 91. The usage of bioethanol is in accordance with the environmental aspect of reducing carbon emissions.
"This will also reduce the portion of gasoline import," she said.
