A school bus driver has been suspended as police look into a brawl between parents and a backup bus driver, the Paulding County School District announced.

The 8-year-old daughter of Samantha Lee, who lives close to the intersection of Old Harris Road and Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway, was reportedly terrified when she couldn’t get off the school bus at her regular stop on Wednesday afternoon.

Many pupils from the Paulding County School District, including students from Allgood Elementary, were traveling on the bus.

According to Lee, “My daughter was afraid because she believed the bus driver was robbing her. The parents repeatedly pleaded for the door to be opened. We need to see our kids, please.”

Lee gave Atlanta News a video of the incident in which the driver tried to explain to parents why he couldn’t let off certain children because their backpacks didn’t have tags on them. Yellow tags are issued to students who are too young to exit the bus alone.

A parent can be seen slapping the bus driver in the face in another video. The children were still on board as the bus driver sat down, locked the door, and departed.

Students can be seen in the video with their heads out the window and can be heard yelling.

According to Paulding County Schools, the bus driver was reportedly filling in for the normal driver because he had called in sick.

The substitute bus driver was trying to manage the discharge of younger pupils, the district claimed in a statement.

Parents of several youngsters waiting at the bus stop outside the bus were involved in the backup situation. Employees of the school district called the Dallas Police Department.

According to the school district, Dallas police assisted in evacuating the pupils from the bus while a supervisor assisted in transporting the other students. In the end, the district reported that every student had made it home safely.
