Omaha Creighton Prep lineman Sam Sledge committed to Nebraska on Sunday, joining the Huskers’ 2023 class as its fourth member and third from inside the state borders. Sledge, unranked by the 247Sports Composite, was offered by Nebraska and first-year offensive line coach Donovan Raiola in January. He is the son of Bob Sledge, an Omaha native and a former starter on the offensive line at Nebraska who lettered from 1986 to 1988.
The Huskers previously received pledges from Lincoln Southeast lineman Gunnar Gottula, Pierce (Neb.) tight end Ben Brahmer and Miami Killian cornerback Dwight Bootle.
The commitment from Sledge is significant after Nebraska missed on the top four 2022 prospects from Omaha’s Metro Conference.

What does this pledge mean for the Huskers?
Mitch Sherman, Nebraska writer: It means momentum that the Huskers appeared to gain back in Omaha is real. Coach Scott Frost and his staff have emphasized the state’s most populated areas this month, sending the full staff to meet with groups of high school coaches to improve relationships.
Sledge is the first to commit to Nebraska among a group of Metro Conference prospects whose fathers played for the Huskers — including 2023 Elkhorn South defensive end Maverick Noonan, 2024 Omaha Westside safety Caleb Benning and 2025 Omaha Burke linebacker Christian Jones. The Huskers can’t afford to miss on many of them.
