Manifest Cast Melissa Roxburgh's Weight Loss Journey

Melissa Roxburgh's weight loss is not good news. She has revealed that she suffered from an eating disorder and has managed to save her relationship with the help of scheduled exercise.

Her father was a former university soccer star and her mother was a retired tennis player. So, she was very athletic as the family used to go hiking and kayaking. Her siblings were able to excel at different sports but she did not find a good fit. She tried various sports and realized that her favorite sport was running.

During a family trip, she started losing a bit of weight and she attempted to get in shape and started wearing makeup to look good. Her then crush started paying attention to her and the attention she was getting made her very happy. She started to control the things that she was able to do, which were food and exercise.

She started to exercise more and more going for long daily runs and reducing her food intake as she thought her self-worth depended on her appearance.

Over the next few years, she developed anorexia athletica which is a type of eating disorder. When you suffer from this ED you start restricting calories and tend to increase the level of physical activity.

She did not realize how the disorder was damaging her body. She would work out nonstop and not eat enough food for a long time. Everyone in her family started worrying about her health.

She said that she looked in the mirror and thought she wasn't thin but did not know how other people saw her. Other people could see how unrecognizably thin she had gotten over the years.

How She Fought Her Eating Disorder?

Her health deteriorated to the point where she had to get medical help. She joined an in-patient program in a hospital. She believes that the eating disorder might have had long-term effects on her brain. because she was depriving herself of the proper nutrients, she needed.

She spent more than a month in the hospital and another less intensive program for a month or so. She was able to recover slowly after attempting to eat and exercise based on a specific plan. One of her conversations with her therapist made her realize that her current body was not healthy and she had to start taking care of herself.

After getting into the entertainment industry, she realized how hard it was not to relapse into her disorder. They wanted a specific type of body for the movies and shows, and she had to lose weight in order to fit into that role. Once, she did not eat for two weeks to fit into the part that was needed.

With her strong dedication and efforts, she could not relapse and develop a stronger mindset. She also became a role model for so many people and has been able to help people struggling with the same thing through her stories and journey. She now works out following a moderate approach and views exercise as a way to remain fit rather than lose weight.
