Personal Statement
I’ve played baseball since I was 4 years old. All my life I’ve been playing, practicing, watching, and reading about baseball. During the offseason, I spend a considerable amount of time training and improving my mechanics, even while playing varsity basketball for a highly competitive team.
I was named co-captain of my HS baseball team for the 2020 season as a junior. I received the Heart of the Storm award on my HS basketball team, given to the player who best displays maximum effort and high character. And I carry a 3.3 GPA, with honors classes.
My most projectable position is RHP. I am currently working on adding velocity, which is likely to develop given my height of 6 ‘4. My secondary position is 3B. As a freshman on my high school varsity team, I started at 3B and pitched in relief. I posted an ERA of 2.00, had an OBP of .347, and only committed 3 errors in the field. As a sophomore, I started at SS and pitched in relief. I posted an ERA of 1.96, had a SLG% of .354 and hit 4th in the order.
This summer, I played 17u tournament baseball for Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy, one the premier youth baseball organizations in the state of Connecticut. I was a starting pitcher and played 1B. I pitched in four tournaments, posted a 2.80 ERA in 15 innings, and hit 4th in the order.
While I show well in camps and showcases, I believe my real talent is displayed in games. I’m a heady, hardworking player who throws strikes and changes speeds, rarely strikes out at the plate, and makes few errors in the field. I believe I have a lot to bring to the table at the next level as my ceiling is very high athletically. I know my velocity and power will continue to improve, as I grow, gain weight and add strength.
On the field and in the dugout, I’m always positive and a tremendous teammate. I will always encourage others when things are not going well and take accountability for my own mistakes. In the classroom, I’m a hard worker at a very competitive school, and I would like academics to play an important role in my college process. Overall, my goal is to play college baseball at an institution where I can best improve myself both as an athlete and a student.
