The Chrisleys’ reality TV show on the USA Network is all about their wealth and how they became celebrities.

Who Is Julie Chrisley?

Julie Chrisley is one of the show’s popular characters because she is the wife of Todd Chrisley, who is an affluent real estate tycoon. She also happens to be the mother of Todd’s 3 children.

Born on January 9, 1973 in Winchester, South Carolina, Julie Hughes is now known as Julie Chrisley is the daughter of Harvey Hughes and Pam Hughes.

Her father started working as a mechanic and then became an assistant manager at Advance Auto Parts later and Pam Hughes, her mother, was a bank teller.

Julie Chrisley, who grew up in Seneca, used to clean offices with her grandmother when she was 12 years old.

Julie Chrisley had a brother named Trey Hughes III who was only 25 years old when his only brother committed suicide.

Todd and Julie talked out about the horrific incident on an episode of the E! series Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry in 2017.

Personal Life

Julie Chrisley had a glamorous existence as the wife of Todd Chrisley because her husband is a wealthy real estate businessman.

She is also the mother of his three children, but it wasn’t until the reality TV show ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ that she became well-known.

Todd was married to Teresa Terry, his high school girlfriend, from 1990 to 1996 before starting her reality show. Julie was also a married woman.

Julie Chrisley Inside Story

In 1993, Todd was connected with Julie Hughes after breaking up with Terry, with whom he has daughter Lindsie and son Kyle.

Todd and Julie welcomed son Chase, daughter Savannah Chrisley, and son Grayson to their family following their 1996 wedding.

Julie had done a lot for the family of Chrisleys. She was always like a mother to Todd’s two children from a previous marriage and then she adopted one of them officially.

She was always there for her children when they were having problems, whether it was with their mental health, personal lives, or academics.

In 2012, it was a tough time for the Chrisleys. Julie Chrisley was also diagnosed with breast cancer and the spouses faced a tremendous setback.

She then underwent a double mastectomy and went into remission after that. Since their marriage, Todd and Julie have been gushing about their strong relationship.

Surrounded by Many Controversies

Julie Chrisley is embroiled in one of many scandals where she is frequently accused of lying about her younger years and history.

She claimed to have earned the title of Miss South Carolina when she was a teenager on the show ‘Chrisley Knows Best.’ This statement, though, was eventually proven to be untrue.

She’s also suspected of dating Todd Chrisley while he was married to another woman. As a result, some of her critics called her a home-breaker.

Julie is also said to have given birth to two children out of wedlock, according to certain websites; however, there are no convincing facts to back up these accusations.

A new claim has now been made against the couple that Todd and Julie Chrisley led an opulent lifestyle shown on the TV series is based on falsehoods.

The case is currently on trial, and Assistant US Attorney Annalise Peters stated that Julie and Todd lied about their assets to banks.

In order to borrow $30 million, which they “burned” on luxurious goods while simultaneously concealing revenue from the Internal Revenue Service, the couple made fake documents.

The Ongoing Case

On May 6, 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley’s court trial began in Atlanta, Georgia, and therefore is slated to last three to four weeks.

The Chrisleys were convicted with 12 charges of bank fraud, tax fraud, and conspiracy by a federal grand jury in August 2019.

The couple have denied all of the charges against them, instead, Todd shifted the blame to one of his old employees and claimed that he is the one who had been stealing their money.

It all began in 2012, according to the celebrity, and it included:

“All kinds of really bad stuff like creating phony documents, forging our signatures, and threatening other employees with violence if they said anything,” as per the source.

Julie lied about her wealth in order to rent a $13,000-per-month California property. Also, she tampered with papers submitted to the FBI throughout the inquiry.

Peter Tarantino, the Chrisleys’ accountant, is also accused of one count of conspiracy to defraud the US and two counts of wilfully reporting false tax documents.

Todd Chrisley on the other hand claimed in 2017 that he had paid taxes over $1 million per year, which is not true as their accountant claims that “they hadn’t paid a dime” in years.

Peters told the jury, “They made up documents and lie through their teeth to get whatever they want, whenever they want it.”

Todd Chrisley’s lawyer, Bruce H. Morris, accused Mark Braddock, the couple’s former manager, of everything that happened to the Chrisleys.

Although Todd Chrisley tries to seem rich on the reality show, Morris claims that he was actually broke and on the verge of bankruptcy at the time he asserted about his large wardrobe spending, which was around $300,000.

The Chrisleys have been engaged in a number of lawsuits in the past. Over the years, there have been various financial controversies, such as a lawsuit filed in 2018 against an ex-employee.

Despite all of the previous and present lawsuits, the Chrisleys have managed to live a luxurious lifestyle without fear of bankruptcy. But, the trial is still going on.
