Calgary’s film and television industry is mourning the loss of one of its own today. Jason Bartling, known for his work on productions such as “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” (2021), “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock” (2022), and “Togo” (2019), has tragically passed away.
Bartling was a respected member of the Alberta screen industry, contributing his talent and passion to several high-profile projects. His dedication and creativity left a significant mark on the industry and his colleagues alike.
“Jason was an incredible talent and an even better friend,” said a fellow member of the Alberta Screen Industry. “His contributions to our community were immeasurable. He will be greatly missed.”
In addition to his work in film and television, Bartling was also an active participant in Calgary’s recreational hockey leagues. He played in both the Calgary Adult Hockey League (CAHL) and the Western Recreational Adult Hockey League (WRAHL), showcasing his love for the sport.
Off the screen and ice rink, Bartling enjoyed woodworking, often sharing his creations and inspirations on his Instagram account. His passion for life extended beyond his professional pursuits, touching many around him.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Bartling’s family during this difficult time. The fundraiser echoes the sentiments of those who knew him best: “Jason put his heart into everything he did. His loss is deeply felt, and any support for his family is greatly appreciated.”
As we remember Jason Bartling, we recognize the profound impact he had on the Alberta screen industry, his colleagues, friends, and the broader Calgary community. His spirit will undoubtedly continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Details about Bartling’s memorial service will be shared soon. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
