Jacob Arnold's Football Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

When I think about football, I think of home. I started my football journey in 2011 and have been  playing since. However, It hasn’t been the smoothest ride. For the first four years of my football career, I was the smallest and slowest player who got the minimum playing time I was required to get. I then met a coach who took me under his wing, I trained with him during the offseason and we improved my endurance and agility through conditioning and footwork drills. Going into 8th grade, I noticed that the boys on my team were hitting their growth spurts as they became taller and more muscular, all while I was staying the same as the year before, small and scrawny. I decided that this was the year I needed to start lifting weights, I started CrossFit and got to work. I didn’t want to be talked down to or receive less playing time  because I was smaller than everyone else. I wanted to put in the work and get to where I wanted. The gym was a priority to me and I was very dedicated. The gym has taught me so much and has made me into the person I am today. I’ve learned a variety of things, including: patience, consistency, and resilience. The things I’ve learned from the gym are life skills that will help me in day to day living. My dedication and hard work eventually paid off as I started to see results immediately. Soon enough my coaches noticed my improvement as I ended up being strongest on the team. I then received more playing time and felt as if I gained more respect from my teammates and coaches. Till this day I continue to attend the gym and work to better myself. My freshman year, I was starting fullback and starting middle linebacker, because of my hard work during the season, I won Defensive MVP. My sophomore year, I continued starting both offense and defense. I look forward to dedicating my time in improving even more these next couple of years before moving on to college football.
