Personal Statement
My dream since childhood has always been to play college basketball and I am 100% dedicated to achieve that goal. I experienced a lot of adversity during my sophomore and junior year due to injury and during my recovery time I learned how blessed I am with the talent I have and the second chance I have to play again. I fractured my back the end of my sophomore season and was told that there was a possibility that I would never play basketball again. When I met with the doctor for my final CT scan, I was so nervous to hear the news, he said he couldn't believe it, but I was told that I was totally healed! I believe this to be a miracle and an opportunity for me to pass my understanding, experience, and motivation to my teammates and others who play sports. Now, in my senior season, I have become a leader and mentor for the younger players and believe that this year will be a successful year for us as a team. Our team made it to State semi-finals last year, but our goal this year is to win State! Although I have learned a lot over the last couple of years, I understand that my knowledge and experience for basketball will only grow with the more opportunity I get to play and be taught from others who are masters of the game.
In academics I have maintained a 3.3 G.P.A throughout my three years of high school. I have participated in National Honors Society, Service Club and the Advanced Choir the last 3 years. I also volunteer in the community serving at the peoples mission, singing in church choir, youth basketball referee and youth baseketball assistant coach. Along with my goal of becoming a college basketball player, I am pursuing a path of becoming a Physician's Assistant in the medical field. Many of my family members are in the medical field and it has intrigued me since childhood. Also, I believe that through my personal experience it has solidified my choice as a professional in the medical field so that I can help others when they are in need.
