Personal Statement
Hi - I am Hannah Payan and I will be graduating from El Paso High School in El Paso, Texas in 2021. I LOVE volleyball and would be thrilled to play the game in college!
My senior year has begun at El Paso High School where I am the starting OH and Co-Captain. My career as a Tiger has been great - I played on El Paso High's JV team as a freshman and was named Player of the Year. My Sophomore year, I made the Varsity team as a starter and played both the outside and opposite. I was named newcomer of the year on the Varsity team. My Junior year I was the starting OH on Varsity and was named All Tournament Player in the Margaret Hussmann Tournament as well as District 1-5A First Team Selection - Outside Hitter and All City - second team - OH . I was also named Offensive Player of the Year for EPHS. Despite the corona virus - I am looking forward to a great last season as a Tiger! I play club volleyball for 915 United in El Paso, Texas. I will play my final, 6th season as the starting outside hitter in January 2021. I play all around for my club team which has really improved my defensive skills. I enjoy playing the back row and, along with hitting, would enjoy the opportunity to become a DS with a deadly back row attack
As a student, I have discovered that I enjoy and excel in both science and mathematics. I am leaning towards a career in engineering - biomedical, biochemical or chemical engineering. I currently have a 4.3 GPA and I am ranked 12 out of a class of 343 students. I have been inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the National Honor Society. I am enrolled in On Ramps, AP and Dual Credit classes and am an active member of student council, Class Officer, Student Leadership and Chick Fil-A Leadership Academy. I am confirmed in the Catholic Church - I attended catholic school from pre-kindergarten to the 8th grade. I have a personal trainer that I see 2 times a week to work on strength and agility and to help avoid injury.
I have a strong work ethic and show this quality both in the classroom and on the court. If given the opportunity to play at the collegiate level, I promise the investment in me will be worth it!
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!
