Personal Statement
Field Hockey defines me as a character in a variety of ways. I am a passionate, determined, and motivated athlete and student. My passion for field hockey began in sixth grade when my physical education teacher encouraged me to tryout for the Modified Field Hockey team. I became very interested in the sport and became devoted to watching the sport online and at attending college/university games close to my area to become more familiarized with the rules and skills involved in the sport.
I have learned that I am a very competitive player. I thrive on competition, stamina, and endurance. Throughout my field hockey journey, I have realized that I can push myself beyond what I think my limits are. I have come to realize that I have more athletic skill than what I thought I had. Also, I have come to understand that nothing comes easy and that I must work hard each and everyday and go beyond my limits to reach my highest skill level. I realize that there is always someone who is better and that I can always become a better athlete by having the right frame of mind and positive attitude. Also, I have realized that I am physically, emotionally, and mentally strong as a player and as a student.
In high school I strive to become within the top ten academically. It is important for me to obtain a GPA of 3.8 or higher. I currently enjoy and want to continue to take enriched courses that will better prepare me for my college career. In addition, I am currently taking college level courses and want to continue to taking college level courses that will further my educational success. By doing well in high school, I hope to receive academic scholarships for college.
I have many college goals that I wish to aspire. One goal after I graduate from high school is to play field hockey at the college level at any level. I would like to pursue a medical degree. I have not yet decided what my concentration is, but find Bio-Med my passion and interest. I will strive to graduate from college with the highest honors. My last goal in college is to be able to achieve and obtain career oriented skills and knowledge that will enable me to receive the career of my choice.
There are many unique characteristics that define me as a student and player. I can define myself as a positive and encouraging leader on the field and in the classroom. I want my peers and team players to look up to me and encouraged by me. I want to encourage my team and provide them with confidence when they are playing and working. I enjoy taking the role as the captain of the team. I want my team to know that I am there for them when they are challenged. It is important for me to be the leader. Also, I can define myself as a perfectionist. I strive to work the hardest and be the best at everything that I do and can do. When I am not doing my best, I will devote and sacrifice my time in perfecting my skills that will enable me to be the best. Finally, I am a dedicated person in everything that I do. I am dedicated in achieving my goals and going beyond what I think I can accomplish that will enable me to achieve my goals.
