David Carey Obituary, Death – David Carey, a citizen of Schaumburg, passed away suddenly on November 22, 2023. David was born in Woodstock, Illinois on November 2, 1962, parents John Kevin and Barbara Ann Carey. His siblings were four children. He played varsity football and baseball at Woodstock High School in Illinois, where he graduated. After graduating from high school, David worked for three years as an oil rig deck worker in Oklahoma before starting to work with his father, John Carey, in the family construction company.
Later on, he worked for United Airlines as a ramp service associate and reservation consultant. David worked as a United aircraft technician for 25 years after earning his airframe and powerplant license at Richard J. Daley College. David was proud of his tenure at United, winning numerous accolades and the respect of his peers. As a mechanic, he had the privilege of traveling with two American flights from Iraq during the war.
David was his daughter’s best cheerleader, a chauffeur, a Boy Scout leader, and a coach for baseball and soccer. David watched with pride as his two boys enlisted in the Navy to serve their nation. David leaves behind two grandsons, Owen and Peyton Peterson, as well as his three children, Kyle (Jackie) Peterson, John Nolan Carey, and Grace Carey.
He is survived by several cousins and extended family, as well as his siblings Gail Carey (Fred Faulkner), Carol (Brian) Buckley, Jeff (Kim) Carey, and four nieces and nephews, Jack Buckley (Godson), Abby (Eric) Luhrsen, Olivia Carey, and Ty Carey. He passed away before his parents, John and Barbara Carey. Wednesday, November 29 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM will be the visitation hours at Schneider Leucht Merwin Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock, IL. On Thursday, November 30, there will be a private service, and then the body will be interred at McHenry County Memorial Park.
