Giants Reportedly Land Harrison
Wednesday, March 9
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported Harrison will receive $24 million guaranteed and $9 million per year on a deal of undisclosed length. ESPN.com's Dan Graziano confirmed the report.
Harrison Provides Value as Run-Stopper
The defensive tackle spent the first four years of his career with the Jets and signed a one-year, $2.356 million deal before the 2015 season, per Spotrac. He recorded a career-high 72 total tackles in 2015 with one forced fumble.
The 6'4", 350-pound tackle was an effective run-stuffer in 2015. He was part of a Jets defense that ranked third in the league in rushing defense and fourth in overall defense.
He's confident heading into this offseason that he will continue to terrorize opposing offenses and took to Twitter on February 15 to send a message to the league:
Damon Harrison Sr. @snacksThe fact that the best of me has yet to come should excite my supporters...but it should seriously frighten anybody who isn't for me. #UDFA
Harrison has been showing his confident side for a while now. Last offseason, he told Around the NFL, "I feel like I'm the best nose tackle in football."
Now he'll get a chance to prove that as the centerpiece of the Giants' defensive front.
