Personal Statement
Swimming had always been on my mind, but I did not realize the importance of the sport until later in my life. Around the age of five, I began swimming during the summer but did not continue year-round. For the next several years, I enjoyed several other sports, including baseball, soccer and lacrosse. However, by seventh grade, I realized my passion was swimming. I dropped all other sports to focus on my swimming career and joined a year-round swim club. Initially, practicing four to five days a week was a struggle, but I soon became accustomed to swimming often. After two years on my first club team, I understood that in order to take my swimming to the next level, I would need to practice every day, rather than a few days a week. This awareness brought me to my current club team, Swim Atlanta, where I practice seven times a week. I could not have asked for a better team, on which the coaches and swimmers bring so much energy and excitement each day. Every day brings a new challenge, which motivates me to improve my stroke and learn new techniques. Swimming allows me to express myself in the water and enjoy the time with my friends and my thoughts. I would love to continue my swimming career throughout college and take my swimming to the next level.
