Ben Sasse’s Wife, Melissa Sasse – Where Is She Now?

Ben Sasse’s wife, Melissa Sasse, has been married to him for years now.

Ben Sasse is a noted politician and Republican Party member, who made his mark in American politics by being appointed as the 15th President of Midland University from 2010 to 2014.

Besides his political career, he has had a successful personal life too – during his college years, Ben met his wife Melissa McLeod Sasse. The two tied the knot in 1995 and have been married ever since.

Following his appointment as Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Planning and Evaluation in 2007, Ben won a vacant seat in the US Senate in 2014 and was then re-elected to a second term this year.

It is expected that he will resign later in 2022 to take up the post of President of the University of Florida.

Rahul Patel, chair of the Presidential Search Committee for the University of Florida, had high praises for future President Ben Sasse on October 6th, 2022.

Described as possessing intellectual curiosity, strong convictions about American universities, and a successful record of leadership in higher education, government, and the private sector, he seemed a natural fit for such an esteemed appointment.

As Sasse bids farewell to his time in the U.S. Senate this coming Sunday, his relationship with President Trump – whether difficult or touching – will surely be remembered when the history books are written.

Senator Sasse was a reliable conservative who often voted with President, Trump. His votes had significant clout when it came to confirming the three Supreme Court Justices now transforming not just the court but also living in America for years to come.

Yet despite facing strong support for Trump amongst his constituents, Sasse did not endorse either of the president’s presidential runs and even chose to convict him in his second impeachment trial.

Through this contentious relationship, Sasse stated that he felt sadness “as a human” for the President’s “neediness and desperation”.

Who is Senator Ben Sasse’s wife, Melissa?

From Birmingham, Alabama, Melissa has a deep-rooted military background stemming from her birth at an Air Force base in California.

Having obtained bachelor’s degrees from the University of Alabama and Georgia Mason University, Melissa was working as a high school teacher and guidance counselor while earning her Ph.D. in American History from New Haven, Connecticut.

Despite encountering a major health scare in 2007 when she suffered from a brain aneurysm, Melissa made a remarkable recovery within just six months.

Today, Melissa balances being a full-time mother to three children – Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Breck – by teaching them at home.

Through her efforts of self-education and dedication to her family, Melissa exemplifies exhibiting bravery through the challenges encountered throughout life.

The children of the Johnson family, who typically reside in Fremont, Nebraska, often find themselves traversing the country when Congress is in session in Washington, D.C.

This regular travel necessitates Melissa Johnson to homeschool her children to ensure their education does not suffer due to constantly moving between locations.

During their visits to the nation’s capital, they take great care to visit many of the city’s landmarks and enjoy learning about the American government first-hand.
