7 things you DIDN’T KNOW about the Love Island voiceover guy Wed 11 July 2018 11:38 Lola Keeley

When it comes to shenanigans in the villa, we can all admit that the contestants alone don’t make the show.

For the full experience, laughs and all, we rely on the voice of Love Island.

Meet cheeky chappy Iain Stirling, who provides the running commentary on who’s snogging who.

Love island would be nothing without the voice over guy 😂👌🏼 #loveisland

1. Iain Is Dating a Fellow Presenter

Iain Stirling is dating fellow ITV presenter Laura Whitmore.

The pair have been coupled up for over a year now, with girlfriend Laura the face of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! NOW! and a host of MTV shows.

2. He’s a Smart Cookie

Although he applied for Oxbridge, Iain studied law in his home city of Edinburgh.

While his grades may have taken a nosedive when comedy started to take priority, he assures us that he did still graduate!

Luckily for us, Iain got more offers for comedy gigs than law internships, and his comedy gold set him on the path to Love Island commentating.

3. There’s Only One Man for Him…

Like all right-thinking Liverpool fans, Iain reserves his man-crush for none other than Jürgen Klopp.

Clearly, he’s been won over by heavy metal football, and Iain isn’t afraid to express how he truly feels about the man in the Anfield hot-seat.

That’s right. Jürgen is #bae.

4. The Voice of Love Island is Coming to a Page Near You…

While you might be familiar with Iain’s standup comedy – he’s been doing the Edinburgh Fringe for years, and is now selling out venues across the UK – you might not know that he’s collected some of those funny observations and produced a book.

My publisher just sent me a picture of the first ever physical copy of my new book ‘Not Ready to Adult Yet’ and I know it’s not the done thing but fuck it – I’m well proud of myself. The book deals with the issues faced by the millennial generation as we make our way in adult life. Why does everyone online seem to be doing life so well, when we find it so hard? Why does nothing in life ever seem enough? What ever happened to Blockbusters? Go to my website and get yourself a copy (ebook version out now). I really hope you like it, I worked ever so hard (once I managed to stay off my phone for almost 3 hours).

5. Iain Takes His Video Games ‘Seriously’

Not content with just posting his Ultimate Team to Insta, Iain has a separate gaming account so that the world can see all of his funniest football and gaming chat.

Shame he hasn’t got Klopp as his Ultimate Team manager, eh!

6. He has Opened Up About the Stresses of Performing

Iain revealed that he’s suffered from panic attacks in the past.

The strains of performing live, coupled with being late for a gig, culminated in him not being able to breathe or speak for a spell.

Though he soldiered on and did his set anyway, Iain confessed the whole experience was ‘brutal’.

7. A Baby of Super-Accents Could Be On the Way

Apparently, Iain and Laura have discussed how their strong Scottish and Irish accents will affect their future children.

Iain said: We’ll have the most Celtic baby of all time!”
