5 Years Before Signing a $260,000,000 Deal, Lamar Jackson Realized His Dream of Buying a House For His Family

Lamar Jackson, along with being a supremely talented quarterback, is a financially smart individual. While the whole world kept finding reasons to criticize Jackson when the Ravens used their franchise tag on him, the former MVP kept his cool, and ended up securing a mammoth $260,000,000 deal earlier this year. However, around 5 years before he even signed the record extension, Jackson was able to realize his dream of buying a house for his family.

Roped in by the Ravens in the first round of the 2018 draft, Lamar had to go through a lot before eventually getting his due. The star QB’s father and his grandmother, tragically passed away on the same day in 2005 when Lamar was only 8 years old. Raised by a strong mother, Jackson vowed to buy a lavish house for her and all thanks to his supreme talent and incredible work ethic, the superstar was able to fulfill his dream at just 21 years of age.

Rookie Lamar Jackson brought a lavish home in Baltimore for his family

While several rookies opt to go crazy with their paychecks, when Jackson was asked to talk about the perks of being a pro player during an interview for Baltimore Ravens’ YouTube channel, he had famously claimed, “you get to buy your parents a home.” Staying true to his words, Jackson, per NYPost, had paid $900,000 in cash back in 2018 for an 8-bedroom mansion in Owings Mills in Baltimore, where he now lives with mom Felicia and brother Jamar.

Spread across 3.3 acres, the lavish property has got over 5 bathrooms, wooden floors, curved ceiling, a gym, a recreation room, a hot tub, a private pool, a spa, an office, and a massive garage. Moreover, the mansion is very close to the Ravens’ facility which also makes life easier for Jackson.

With his new deal, Jackson can now make up to $52 Million a year. He is now the highest earning NFL athlete in the history of the competition(on an annual basis). This is why, many fans are opining that Lamar might soon shift base to a bigger, better  bungalow. However, looking at the kind of person Lamar is, it is unlikely he will invest heavily in another mansion, especially when he is set to play for Baltimore in the coming years.

Will the ‘Highest Paid QB’ tag add extra pressure on Jackson?

Jackson wasted no time when it came to showing his prowess on the highest level. After a fantastic rookie season, he shattered several records the very next year, ultimately winning the league MVP honors at just 22 years of age. However, last year, when the Ravens weren’t able to offer Jackson a deal of his liking, things started going awry.

They then decided to franchise tag him this year, which gave the impression that things aren’t as smooth as they should be, between the QB and the Ravens’ management. Thankfully, Jackson was able to get the deal he wanted. However, being the highest paid QB in the league can also add extra pressure on an athlete.

Moreover, with everything that transpired between the two parties from the point when Jackson missed the OTAs last year, to the point he signed the lucrative deal, Jackson would be under the pump to deliver big time. It will be interesting to see how he ends up performing.
